System Capacity Maps

Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER)

In accordance with the Ontario Energy Board’s (OEB) directive to enhance transparency, the system capacity maps have been developed to offer customers a clearer understanding of available electrical capacity. These maps assist in the planning of new electrical connections, service upgrades, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and distributed energy resource (DER) projects by illustrating the estimated capacity at distribution stations and feeders within our service areas.

**Please be advised that these maps are intended for informational purposes only. To confirm feasibility and explore connection options, kindly contact NT Power directly.

For a high-level view of available capacity in Ontario’s electricity distribution systems, see the OEB’s Centralized Capacity Information Map (CCIM)

About the CCIM
  • The CCIM is an online tool created by the OEB to give users a high-level view of
where available capacity exists on Ontario’s electricity distribution systems.
  • The CCIM displays data about Ontario’s electrical grid capacity for both load and
DER hosting connections to help support the delivery of affordable, secure reliable and clean energy that enables economic growth across the province.
  • Data is provided by electricity distributors across Ontario and is updated at least
    once every three months.
  • The CCIM consists of two interactive environments:
    • Available Load Capacity: To provide awareness of potential connection points for additional load, such as housing, commercial or industrial sites.
    • Available DER Hosting Capacity: To provide awareness of potential connection points for small-scale power generating installations or energy sources.
  • The CCIM is intended for preliminary screening only and does not replace any formal connection impact assessment process required by electricity distributors.
CCIM Value Proposition
  • The CCIM empowers consumers and developers with early visibility into grid
capacity, enabling faster site viability checks, informed comparisons, and smarter project decisions saving time, reducing uncertainty and accelerating energy
    investments.
  • The CCIM will help unlock the value of distributed energy resources, lower barriers
to participation and help enable smarter investments in our energy infrastructure.
Benefits for Specific Stakeholders

EV and DER Providers / Developers

  • The CCIM helps identify potential sites for EV charging stations and DERs, reducing
the number of preliminary information requests.
  • It supports informed investment decisions by showing where the grid can
accommodate additional loads without system upgrades.
  • The CCIM helps reduce barriers to deploying EV charging stations, especially when navigating multiple distributor service areas.

Investors/ Commercial or Residential Developers

  • The CCIM will help developers make faster, better informed siting decisions, enable targeted investments and help to drive economic development.
  • Investors and developers can use the map to assess the potential connection
complexity for their energy projects, helping them to make informed decisions about
    site selection.
  • Consumers seeking to connect to the grid can use this map to:
    • Identify areas with available grid capacity for new businesses, housing
      developments, and infrastructure projects
    • Compare locations to find the best sites for industrial expansion or renewable energy projects
    • Access consistent data that helps reduce uncertainty and accelerate project timelines
